CEA Announces a NEW online course: Fundamentals of Effective Problem-solving is designed to assist correctional educators, through the use of interactive exercises, in developing a working understanding of effective problem-solving methods. These exercises develop specific skills applicable for use within correctional facility classrooms. The course is $532 and 3 semester hours of GRADUATE level credit are available through Ashland University, a fully accredited institution. All the materials are contained in the online module. Students may enroll at any time to get started! Fundamental of Effective Problem-solving Outline Lessons 1 and 2 - Adult Learning Styles Lesson 3 - The Problem-solving Method Lessons 4 and 5 - Problem Definition Lesson 6 - Idea Generation Lesson 7 - Impacts and Consequences Lesson 8 - Developing Plans of Action Lessons 9, 10, and 11 - Class Project in Problem-solving Lesson 12 - Course Reflection The course was developed by Dr. Phillip Amerine is one of the country’s leading practitioners of design and creative problem-solving methodology. His doctoral work was done at New York University with studies at Oxford University, M.I.T., and Trent Polytechnic Institute. Dr. Amerine has over twenty-five years of experience in teacher training and professional development. His work within correctional and alternative education includes both adults and juveniles with an emphasis on special needs students.
