INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSIONS TO THE JOURNAL OF CORRECTIONAL EDUCATION

1. Manuscripts for publication review should be sent to: David Webb, Journal of Correctional Education, Ashland University Outreach Programs, 401 College Ave., Ashland, OH 44805 Email: dwebb@ashland.edu

2. Submission format must be via email in a Microsoft Word document. Authors will be notified upon receipt of the article and again when the decision of acceptance, rejection or revisions is made by the editorial board. A cover letter must be included with a statement indicating that the article has not appeared in another publication.

3. Title page should include: (1) Title of submission, and (2) Authorís name, address, phone number, email address, and a brief (forty words or less) biographical sketch. In the case of coauthors, respective addresses should be clearly indicated, as well as a note identifying which author is to receive correspondence. Please notify the editor of any change of address and/or phone number that occurs while a paper is in the process of publication.

4. The essential contents of each paper should be stated briefly in an abstract following the title page. The title of the article should be on the abstract page, but should not include the authorís name, (approximately 150-300 words in length).

5. All figures and illustrations should be professionally drawn about twice the final size required. All photographs, maps, charts, diagrams should be referred to as ìfiguresî and numbered consecutively and should have informative titles. Their position in the manuscript should be indicated.

6. In preparing manuscripts for publication, The PublicationManual of the American Psychological Association and Webster's Dictionary are generally followed on questions of references, spelling, punctuation and format.

7. Footnotes are to be used only for substantive comments, not for citation. Footnotes should be listed appropriately and shown at the end of the text. Follow APA guidelines on referencing.

8. The Journal of Correctional Education requires that all contributions reflect appropriate professional content. Materials which use inappropriate or defamatory language, and/or which promote issues considered to be detrimental to the profession, will not be considered for publication.
